My name is Joshua Pryce, I would like you to pray for my spiritual life to be more like Christ and go through life with a strong spirit. I go through alot of suffering because of my faith. All my gay friends hate the church and there are like no teenagers at mine anyway cuz were small, but the ones that are stick to their parents. I also am not out (but have known since age 11) and am really kind of afraid. But am going to come out anyway, because i want to suffer for the sake of others who will inevitably come after me. I’ve always wondered the same thing about lavender marriages. Once when I was doing online orthodox high school, I was buying some manga (Japanese comics) from this senior. So he sent me a photo of his bookshelf so I could see all the different comics I could choose from. I saw he had a famous lesbian manga and I ended up asking him if he was ok with it (gay people lol). After a while we came out to each other as gay and lesbian. We lost touch but he once reached out to me again and said if I ever wanted to be in a lavender relationship he’d be willing. I still think about him.

Hey Astro, I am also a lesbian raised in the Orthodox Church. I was always interested in finding fellow LGBTQ people who are also orthodox christians, but it’s quite hard, since many are not so open about it. Now for the original post: Finland is a very progressive country, so I already had my hopes up that they would do that! I am so happy to see that we are moving forward, even if it’s very slow. I wish that the Church would continue to do that, and that other countries join too!

While I appreciate you visiting the site, it is a shame that you did not read more about being an Orthodox Christian and being LGBTQ. Your blunt comments are neither helpful, compassionate, kind, nor even Christian. If one is attracted to the same sex, how would marrying someone with “the other genitals” You would just end up perverting God’s creation, the mystery of a marriage, and two people’s lives. Do you truly believe that all LGBTQ people are called to the monastic life? That certainly is not true. Please try to speak with someone who is LGBTQ and, with an open heart, listen to the thoughts of another person who was created in God’s image, just as you were.

For Orthodox Christian church if you want to live it’s mysteries, the real choice in somebody’s life is to become a monk or a married with another orthodox person with the other genitals.

I highlight only one of YOUR ideas from our comments for our readers: “Scientists that have studied sexual behaviors whether being attracted to same gender or the opposite gender it is a learned behavior. It is called prostitution, and prostitution is against God’s Law. It isn’t your fault that you were exposed to such a behavior.”
No reputable scientists have concluded that same-sex attraction is a learned behavior, and has nothing to do with prostitution, and I was never exposed to such.
I can only bid you God’s grace of His mercy and love.
