Orthodox Gender: Contemporary Orthodox Thoughts on Gender and Sexuality” is an edited collection seeking papers on gender and sexuality in the Orthodox context. In particular, the editor is looking for papers addressing Orthodox views and possibilities of same sex marriage, LBGT, transgender, and queer identity. Academic papers, personal narratives, and position papers are welcome. Abstracts are requested by Dec 1 with final manuscripts in early spring. The call for papers can be viewed and abstracts and/or submissions can be submitted at http://jamesjeremymiller.com/index.php/orthodoxy-and-gender-cfp/
That sounds really interesting… I might think of something for this!
This is very interesting! It makes me wonder why he would do this? From my experiences and from what I have read, like the churches response to same sex marriage, they have no interest in changing their 2000 year stance – at all. Was it requested by the church? I know the Catholic Church is making an effort of being more inclusive. Does anyone think this could be possible in the Russian Orthodox Church? At least in my life time?
