Here is a link to Catherine M. Wallace’s article ‘Gay Marriage and Anglican Anxiety: The Backstory. Although using the recent Anglican communion controversy as a springboard, Wallace focuses on issues of great relevance to the Orthodox Church(es). She suggests that the real, underlying conflict is between biblical scholars (some of whose evidence she lays out) and biblical literalists. between those who can admit the church has made a mistake and those who cannot.
